So..... I've bought a second hand Thinkpad T490s as a hopefully 🤞 permanent FreeBSD or NetBSD laptop. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get audio or wifi working on my system76 pangolin 12 with any of the BSD's. The Pangolin may have to stay a Linux only PC, but probably only Alpine Linux at most.

I'll keep you updated with my adventures

@greylinux@mylittlefedi.capella-ember.uk modern laptops are going to be a struggle for now I think. I've generally been OK with FreeBSD on my framework, though I had to put an old WiFi card in to get some connectivity
My struggle is with S0ix states though which FreeBSD doesn't support yet, and my laptop doesn't do S3 sleep so I have no lid close actions.

Note: this isn't a complaint, it's an understanding, and quite frankly we're all going to be buying older stuff anyway as no normal person can afford new laptops any more

yeah I thought the pangolin may have been a long shot, it mostly worked just not WiFi, Bluetooth and audio , the other 2 were easy to over come , but the audio was a deal breaker for this laptop.
I like second hand Thinkpad's though, my first Linux PC was a Thinkpad T440 I think or maybe that was my second , I can't remember.
Still I'll have a FreeBSD laptop for a long time hopefully and the pangolin can be a tinker PC.
